Frequently asked questions
Do US courses appear on my Turkish report card?
Each school keeps its own record. Turkish courses appear in the Turkish school system and US courses appear on the Academy transcript.
Do grades from Türkiye enter my Academy GPA?
Accepted transfer credits count toward graduation. The Academy calculates GPA from the final grades in courses completed at the Academy, once a year.
Can I prepare for the YKS at the same time?
Yes, if your timetable allows it. Taking US courses in Grades 9–11 reduces the extra work in the exam year. Starting in Grade 12 leaves only one year for the remaining credits.
Can my US diploma replace a Turkish diploma?
Article 12(3) of the Turkish equivalency regulation excludes credentials earned wholly or partly through distance education. Dual diploma students continue toward their Turkish school diploma.
Is the US program approved by the Turkish ministry?
The diploma comes from an accredited US school. Turkish schooling continues at your local school under the Turkish Ministry of National Education.
What happens if I fail a course?
An F earns no credit. If the course is needed for graduation, your course plan must be revised with the school.
Where do I take an AP exam?
AP exams are administered at participating schools or authorized centers in May. Check the College Board calendar, registration arrangements and any separate fee with your provider.
Which platforms are used?
VHS Learning uses D2L Brightspace and Buzz. Its Service Center provides technical help.
What equipment will I need?
You will need a computer and reliable internet access that allows you to reach the course materials and class discussions. Check any school network firewall restrictions.
Do I need to travel to the US?
No. Students can take the courses online from Türkiye.
Does the Academy rank students?
The Academy does not assign class ranks. Students with all A or B grades may earn Honor Roll recognition, and those with all A grades may earn High Honor Roll recognition.
Can the courses help with NCAA eligibility?
Check course approval and your individual eligibility through the NCAA Eligibility Center. The Academy lists school code 850943, and VHS Learning uses 221356 as the provider.
What documents will I receive?
On completing the requirements, you receive your Turkish school diploma and the Academy’s official transcript and US diploma. The local enrollment office coordinates delivery.
Which universities have admitted Academy graduates?
The school profile and program documents list Boston University, New York University, Northeastern University, Penn State, Ohio State, the University of Washington, the University of Toronto and the University of Sydney, among others. These links open university profiles on Dream Big. The program website has a longer list.
