US dual diploma

How do US and Ontario dual diplomas compare?

Ontario sets a provincial framework for its Secondary School Diploma (OSSD). In the US, graduation requirements vary by school and jurisdiction. Here the US example is VHS Learning Academy. A transcript review determines what is left for each student.

Ask each school for its decision on your actual transcript. Some students entering Ontario from another jurisdiction in Grades 11 or 12 may be exempt from the financial literacy requirement depending on their prior learning assessment. Verify the school’s authority to award the diploma and ask for a personal graduation plan.

Which universities are you considering?

Check what each prospective university accepts. US applications may include transcripts, GPA and AP results. Credit or placement based on AP scores depends on the university.

How does Turkish equivalency apply?

Article 12(3) of Türkiye’s equivalency regulation applies to qualifications earned wholly or partly by distance education, whether issued in Canada or the US. Students in both programs continue toward their Turkish diploma for domestic university applications.

How much time will you need?

Compare the credits still required at each school after transfer, then ask how many hours a week those courses take. Try the workload calculator for the Academy example.
